Visit to the Studio of Artist
Carol Reed
November 12, 1:00 pm
This program is in-person and members-only
Please join us for an in-person visit to the Old Town Alexandria studio of artist and WPC board member, Carol Reed.
From the studio and her home Carol will share in-progress and finished pieces of her latest work on paper. Exploring art through the language of abstraction, Carol works exclusively on paper. Selectively using paper manipulation, her heavily worked images are built with multiple techniques including combinations of hand printing, stencil, carved wood and rubber stamps, zinc plate and linoleum relief embossing. By cutting, tearing and layering, she works through a process of subtraction – building by removing, deleting her way to clarity.
Outside the conventional approach to print finishing, Conversation, her 2019 stone lithograph/zinc plate embossment was completed with glued color fragments from repurposed paintings. From the edition of 10, a portfolio of six will be accessioned into the Georgetown University Library collection in 2022.

Recently, Carol has explored using a large format 36 inch inkjet printer as an editioning tool. Through examples from the studio, she will offer a brief explanation of how she applies her techniques to the process used to create these works.
A selection of other works will be available for viewing. More information about the artist is available on her website.
Please use the button below to register for this program and to receive logistical information for the event. You may register up to two people. Attendance will be limited to 25 people. As always, please RSVP early as this studio visit will reach capacity.
