Visit to the Studio of Artist

Please join us for a May 20, 11:00 am, visit with artist Beverly (Bev) Ress at her studio in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Bev will speak about the evolution of her current drawing work, and its relationship to the Covid shutdown. She’ll address the necessity of trying new things, allowing yourself to make bad work and pushing through it, and the fear of letting go of previous success.

Bev’s drawings have been shown in solo exhibitions throughout the East Coast. Her work has been included in national drawing shows at the Weatherspoon Art Museum in Greensboro, North Carolina, the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock, and at various venues in Brooklyn, Belgium, Germany, New York, DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

Bev has received five Individual Artist Awards from the Maryland State Arts Council, a Pollock-Krasner Grant and a United States Artists project grant.

Attendance is limited to 20. You may register up to two people

The Washington Print Club annual meeting and reception will take place May 27 at 2:00 pm at Pyramid Atlantic in Hyattsville, MD. We do hope that you can join us for this highlight of our year. Guests are welcome. Light fare will be served.

The annual meeting is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with old friends and to meet our newer members. The program will include

  • Election of board members. The slate of board members up for re-election is Melissa Fast, Joan Filson, Mike Hagan, Linda Morenus, Kathy Powell, Carol Reed, Brian Weinstein, Beverly With, Chris With.
  • The Student Printmaker Award ceremony. This year’s awardee hails from Howard University.
  • A collectors’ showcase.

RSVP for the annual meeting and reception by May 22 and let us know if you plan to bring a guest.

Pyramid Atlantic is located at 4318 Gallatin Street, Hyattsville, MD. Street parking is usually available and there is a municipal lot nearby.


Member News

Along with Fred Moten, Ruth Fine is co-curating the upcoming exhibition of photographs by Frank Stewart at the Phillips Collection. Frank Stewart’s Nexus will be on view June 10 – September 3.

Curated by WPC member Vesela Sretenovic, the exhibition Cast In Shadow features the work of WPC member Beverly Ress. Until May 15 at the Klagsbrun Studios, 1662 33rd St., NW, Washington DC.


Julie Wolfe will have a showing and signing of her new book, Apophenia, at Hemphill on June 15, 6:00 pm. More information is available here.

Gary Zuercher will be exhibiting photographs from his book The Glow of Paris at Paris City Hall (Hotel de Ville), October 16 – November 30.
