Please join us on Thursday, March 5, 9:30 am for a visit to the National Gallery of Art exhibition Mary Cassatt: An American in Paris with Rena M. Hoisington, Curator of Old Master Prints. Rena will discuss the artist’s groundbreaking prints and drawings, including a unique group of six works relating to In the Omnibus, in this intimate exhibition. More information here.
Afterwards the group will tour In the Library: Mary Cassatt’s American Legacy, an installation of archival photographs, rare catalogs, and documentation that explore the artist’s American ties, with Ellen Prokop, Image Specialist for French Art to 1900, and Elisabeth Narkin, Image Specialist for Architecture.

Please Join Us for a Visit to the Studio of Artist Elzbieta Sikorska Saturday, March 14, 11:00 am
Please join us on Saturday, March 14, 11:00 am for a visit to the Silver Spring, MD home and studio of artist Elzbieta (Ela) Sikorska.
Ela shared: “I’ve been working on and with paper for a long time. In my presentation, I will focus mostly on drawings, along with examples of my occasional printmaking. I have also worked with papermaking, and in recent works, I collage compositions of artist-made paper and Arches watercolor paper, then draw on them. This series, still an ongoing project, is dedicated to exploring and gaining a deeper understanding of nature. I call it Invisible Landscape.”
Following a presentation that will take place on the first floor of Ela’s home, the group will be divided into two groups for visits to the second floor studio which is accessible only via stairs. Light refreshments will be served.

Adjoa Burrowes will lead a hands-on printmaking workshop at the Fairfax Public Library on March 4, 3:00 – 4:00 pm. Participants will learn how to apply water-based ink to flowers and plants, creating prints through the gelatin process. On March 21, 10:30 – 11:30 am, Adjoa will be interviewed by artist Claudia “Aziza” Gibson-Hunter. More information about the online program here. In addition, Adjoa’s work will be on view in the exhibition BLACK(ER) at the MLK Memorial Library, March 11 – June 14. Gail Shaw-Clemons recently completed a residency at the Vermont Studio Center during which she created a solo exhibition. In addition, Gail’s work has been juried into the Phillips Collection upcoming invitational exhibition (opening August 1) and her work has been acquired by the DC Commission on Arts and Humanities Art Bank.
