Jeanette Bolden, a current Studio Arts student at the University of Maryland, College Park is the recipient of the Washington Print Club’s Annual Young Printmaker Award.
Established in 2017, the award recognizes artistic excellence by a student committed to printmaking, photography, the graphic arts, or other works on paper. Students are selected on a rotating basis from local universities and colleges.
Ms. Bolden is interested in the subtle power of history, extraction, and montage. She creates the multifaceted connection between body, memory, and iconography through the exploration of lineage and pairing it with something new. She uses bird motifs, family photos, and cyanotypes in conjunction with traditional and alternative printmaking processes to form a bridge between these concepts.
