On Paper Update
Due to the constraints imposed by the recent outbreak of COVID-19, the spring issue of On Paper has been cancelled. We look forward to seeing you via the journal in the fall.
Instagram Project
While the WPC’s in-person programming may be suspended for now we have a lively social media presence. This may be the time when you finally want to sign up for Facebook or Instagram!
The WPC has asked DC-area artists and curators to share their favorite works on paper from local museum collections. Each participant is writing a brief explanation about why he or she has chosen the work. It’s a fun way not only to learn about the works of art, but also learn a bit about the participating artists and curators.
The social media project is ongoing with artists and curators sharing their submissions every day. Stay tuned for a large National Gallery contingent. Nine curators from the department of prints and drawings have shared their favorites which will be posted online in the coming days.
You can participate too! The WPC is planning a future Instagram program featuring works from members’ collections. Here’s how to get involved:
- Take a good, clear digital photograph of a work on paper you would like to have featured in the WPC Instagram and Facebook page.
- Send the photograph to Nancy Hirshbein at moc.liamg@niebhsrihn.
- Be sure to include the following:
- the name of the artist
- the name of the work
- the date the work was made
- the medium
- Write two or three sentences about why you chose the work.
- Your Instagram “handle,” if you have one.
