As a member organization, the Washington Print Club aims to provide educational programs, publications, resources, and member events of relevance, interest, and enjoyment.

One particular initiative will aid the board in its planning for the future: a comprehensive survey of the membership. Your feedback and ideas will improve the Club’s programs and resources and help broaden our membership base.

Gail Shaw-Clemons is participating in several shows: Phillips@THEARC, What A Relief: Small Relief Sculptures, January 24-March 18, 2022; Hill Center Galleries, The Regional Juried Exhibit, January 11-March 27, 2022; Angie Newman Gallery, Alexandria VA, Before, During and After: The Role of Art in Shaping Resilience, Feb.14-March 22, 2022. Gail will also be participating in the National Art Education Association, presenting on the topic “Artist Collectives as Sites of Mentorship, Artistic Growth, Healing, and Transformative Learning,” March 3-5.

Susan Due Pearcy was commissioned to create the artwork for Maryland’s celebrated Sheep & Wool festival, May 7-8. Susan’s work will be featured in the catalog and promotional materials.

Adjoa J. Burrowes‘ interview by Rebecca Potts Aguirre is featured in New Visionary, a print and digital magazine launched this month by Visionary Art Collective. You can view the interview here. Also, Adjoa’s monotype Changing Current will be including in the group exhibition Before, During, After: Art Shaping Resilience, February 14 – March 22, Angie Newman Johnson Gallery, Episcopal High School, Alexandria, Va.

Exhibitions of Note

Lou Stovall: On Inventions and Color, February 1 – April 30 at the Kreeger Museum. Curated by Danielle O’Steen, the exhibition is a survey of works by Lou Stovall, the master printmaker who has transformed the field of printmaking in Washington, DC since the 1960s. The exhibition includes works from across Stovall’s career, giving insight into the artist’s innovative approach to screenprinting and his decades-long study of color. Lou Stovall: Of Land and Origins, February 19 – May 29, at the Georgia Museum of Art. More information, including links to online events, is available here.

Positive Fragmentation: From the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family, January 29 – May 22. Organized by the National Museum of Women in the Arts and hosted by the American University Museum, this exhibition features over 100 prints by 21 contemporary artists including Lorna Simpson, Betye Saar, Wangechi Mutu, Polly Apfelbaum, Jennifer Bartlett, Christiane Baumgartner, Cecily Brown, Judy Chicago, Nicole Eisenman, Julie Mehretu, Judy Pfaff, Swoon, Barbara Takenaga, Mickalene Thomas, and Kara Walker.
