Please join us on Thursday, May 14, 11:00 am for a visit to the National Gallery of Art exhibition Dear America: Artists Explore the American Experience with Rena Hosington, curator and head of Old Master and 19th century prints, Shelley Langdale, curator and head of modern prints and drawings, and Philip Brookman, contractor curator of photography.
Dear America: Artists Explore the American Experience is part of the National Gallery of Art’s year-long commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026. The exhibition examines how artists have portrayed and interpreted key aspects of American culture over the last 250 years. Comprising approximately 120 works by more than 95 artists works from the late 18th century to the present — including numerous recent acquisitions and works that have never been on view at the National Gallery before — the exhibition highlights artists’ wide-ranging depictions of American experience across time and place and is framed by the themes of land, community, and freedom.
