Members of the Washington Print Club and their guests are invited to visit the Chevy Chase, MD studio of artist Mira Hecht, who shares with us this about her work:
“Through abstract visual language, repetition, and layering, I find meaning in form and process. I apply paint with a light touch choosing to remove any sign of a brush mark. My technique of overlapping transparent layers of oil paint — wet on dry — creates a sense of shifting kaleidoscopic pattern and a tension between surface and depth. Also, working on paper, Infinite Connections, my most recent and ongoing series is created with gouache, graphite, and collage.
At the heart of my work is an embrace and expression of our universal truths: life is fragile, impermanent, and interconnected — a mystery — where much of what I yearn to understand is beyond my grasp. It is also an expression of gratitude and a perpetual reaching toward light. The circular form symbolizes wholeness, unity, and the cyclical nature of being. I hope to offer the viewer an uplifting space of order and calm in our fast moving and chaotic world.”
